Join Us for 2 Free Events with Author Marco Avilés on June 1st & 12th!
Posted on May 20, 2024
You're invited to two exciting events with Quechua-Peruvian author Marco Avilés, co-hosted by WWB Campus and the Brooklyn Public Library! Avilés is an acclaimed writer and journalist whose collection De dónde venimos los cholos was named one of the best books of 2016 by the New York Times en Español.
On Saturday, June 1st from 2pm–3:30pm ET at the Brooklyn Heights Library, join us for an author talk by Avilés and a musical performance by musician and Latin Grammy-nominee Araceli Poma. Avilés will discuss ideas of home: what it means to leave it, long for it, and return to it. Find more details about this in-person event here.
Then, tune in virtually on Wednesday, June 12th from 11am-12pm ET for a writing workshop entitled "How to Say 'I Miss You.'" Avilés will inspire participants to write stories all about the places we’ve left behind. Find more details and register for the event here.
Spanish-language support will be provided for both events.
